Summer Holiday Activities

25th July 2024

Now the summer holidays have begun we have put together some fun ideas for you to do at home & locally to keep the children entertained

Here are some engaging activities to keep the children entertained during the summer holidays:

  • Garden Camping: Set up a tent in the back garden for a mini camping adventure. You can roast marshmallows, tell stories, and play games.

Children Playing Outdoors

  • Home Cooking: Get the children involved in the kitchen by cooking or baking together. Let them help with simple tasks like mixing ingredients, shaping cookies, or decorating cupcakes.
  • Picnic in the park: Visit your local park or beaches and enjoy a picnic, take some games and sit in the summer weather.
  • Nature Scavenger Hunt: Organise a nature scavenger hunt in your back garden or a nearby park. Create a list of items for the children to find, such as a pinecone, a red leaf, or a feather.
  • Arts and Crafts: Set up a crafting station with supplies like coloured paper, markers, glue, and scissors. Encourage the children to get creative and make their own masterpieces.

Children crafting at a table

  • Outdoor Water Fun: On hot days, set up a water play area in the back garden with sprinklers, water balloons, or a paddling pool. Let the kids splash around and cool off.
  • Movie Night: Choose a theme or favourite movie series and have a movie marathon day. Pop some popcorn, snuggle up with blankets, and enjoy a cinematic experience at home.

Family Watching a Film together

  • Virtual Museum Tours: Explore museums and cultural sites from around the world through virtual tours. Many museums offer online exhibits that the whole family can enjoy from the comfort of home.
